Bull Crag Peninsular is a tale of two places , Forest and Reservoir path and during the cold wintery days the deeper within the forest it becomes warmer and protected whilst the open areas display frost and snow coverings.

The moss has taken new winter colours and if you look closely they are in patches and clumps of nuanced greens whilst where it has been touched by the frost lightened in colour. The deep and mystical colours of the forest are magical but if you can go during the cold frost or a sprinkling of snow it highlights old plants but you have to go looking for them.

It is the small things which create a memory of a feeling , walk slowly and make inquiry into everything with the delight of a child mind. Rummage into the corners , go investigate lichen dangling from the trees , find contrasts of wintered grasses of light browns with the dar saturated tree trunks.

Find things which you connect to , maybe the shapes of fallen tree root systems , little streams with fluffy pillows of moss softening the edges, get lost in the inter connecting leafless tree branches which often have droplets of water glistening in the light. Find over laden pine trees with array of greens and reddy browns , maybe put one or two in your pocket to take home. Find colourful remaining leaves dangling or maybe an old flower head coated in some wintery whiteness.

The magic is contained within you and it how you perceive life which brings nature alive. Be curious , mindful and find joy in the simplest of things. Make friends with nature.
