It has taken me 6 months to finally arrive at my new home. It is a new beginning for me in all respects but a welcome change, a change I have been hoping for a long while. My transformation from my business ending at Lockdown , studying Mindfulness and Resilience to being asked to exhibit my paintings across the world and pursuing a nature based art idea. I was in conflict with my acrylic neo expressionistic paintings and making ink and papers from foraged plants but I cannot claim the idea of making art with foraged nature as it came from a dream which the goddess Kali asked me to show nature as I see it and use nature as the material. It has taken me a year to get to a point which I can fulfil that request.
Along the way of living in a stone cottage in Nidderdale , North Yorkshire for the last 10 years I began wandering the beautiful miles of thriving Hedgerows with my camera to slow my mind and to connect to the awe and beauty of nature. I knew the hedgerows like an old friend. It wasn’t until last year that I decided to show my photographs to encourage people to go into nature and realise that everything is beautiful.
I managed to pop out last week for my first time exploring my new environment of Kielder Forest. I turned left up a country road hoping for thriving hedgerows but found something quite empty and was a little down hearted with my move. The next day I turned right along a bridleway and walked the mile to the reservoir and into the woodland. My spirit had lifted , Nature was flourishing and waking up from the winter. Blackthorn and Hawthorns flowering , my first Dandelion , Buds and leaves emerging. I love contrast of old and new .
Gorse is glorious , must be a good year for it and the weather has been beautiful too. I often dislike harsh sun and blue skies as it makes photographing plants difficult but you have to adapt and take with gratitude what we have been given. Explore possibilities rather than focus on limiting conditions. Nature has shown me adaptability and resilience , that I should work with what Kielder Forest has provided with acceptance it is different from Nidderdale. This is the reason why I am here , to express nature to people so they may fall in love with it too.
