July
July is a tale of two halves walking around the peninsular where in the open areas beside the reservoir is brimming with wild flowers and array of colours which will switch and shift throughout the month to the calm cool silence of the forest where maybe a foxglove or two brightens up the journey. The forest offers some respite in the full on colour experience especially if you are taking photographs , drawing or making notes.
To feel both its energies plan stops for each and take your time to breath.
The Blackberry was the first to pop out to take a look around in early spring but now its its turn to catch up with whites , yellows and purples which embellish the pathways with so much energy. Blackberries are my favourite , they symbol for me , strength , humbleness, delicate , courageous and giving and when you investigate them they are so divine and its no wonder they were thought of as sacred by our ancestors. There is a purple competition of thistles , clover , foxgloves and other plants dotting the landscape . White daisies are in full force and in-between like a melody is beautiful rich cadmium buttercups reaching as high as they possible can. One or two rich yellows of Ragwort have popped up , it does not matter when , as now its continuous flux of colours. It is a wave of delight which you can surf throughout July.
What i love is it all together sparkling in the sunshine and it calls out to sit with a flask of a hot drink and just sit peacefully watching the water feeling the summer energy. It is that energy which we expose ourselves to which is healing for our bodies and mind. In abundance of wild flowers make a posy to take home and sit in a small vase on your window cill to remind you of greater things in life.
The great chestnut trees closer to waterside are filling with nuts and everything and everywhere feels joyful and light. Take your time , walk slower and enquire into natures gift , make stops and sit for ten minutes gazing at how beautiful our land truly is and whilst savouring that summer light cherish your moments of breathing in life which supports and loves you.
This is the same magic and delight the American Painter Georgia O’Keeffe encountered , look through her eyes to when you begin the look closer there is a sublime elegance of being which we all can hold onto.
