As with Bull Crag there is a purple theme especially with the Knapweed but in little clumps along the side of the verge alongside the reservoir are for me the most beautiful delicate and exquisite Heathers. I look forward to their presence and re-connecting to them.

Their are still some blackberry flowers which are delightful but mainly now masses of hard green balls of nourishment are waiting to turn themselves into darkened purple of ripened berries. Popping up here and there is the bright red raspberries and scattered along the native trees are orangery red clumps of Rowan berries.

Although the older Thistles have their seed heads in display the flower head are the most beautiful colour and in this instance before they transform colour once again are a beautiful gift to see. I am as always in love with Cow Parsley and towards Matthews Linn you can encounter its larger cousin Giant Hogweed standing tall and proud against the tall Pines

There is more wild flowers to encounter than Bull Crag which is welcomed. The wooden areas have quietened down now but soon there is a display of autumn leaves , moss , lichens and fungi to enjoy. I love this intermittent changes of character throughout its year. I adore August and September having one foot in vibrant summer wild flowers and more serene autumnal ochre yellows and reddy browns.

Each moment is special and the experience is about your own relationship to the world but wandering through a woodland can be very persuasive to make profound changes within you which enables greater healing and feeling more connected with nature and yourself.
