July
Natures colours are healing and soothing to our nervous system but i feel that they awaken us and help us connect back easier. In natures reciprocity its design is your attention just like the bees and insects collecting from it. You collect joy and delight.
There are wonderful large white daisies with cadmium yellow centres which seem to turn lemony in the light , foxgloves are scattered competing with the vibrant thistle flowers and the clover petals along the verge ground. Buttercups , Dandelions add the yellow in its summer palette.
It takes slowness and noticing to find other beauties such as a wild rose but un-missable are the cow parsley plants with their striking posture , nettles and arrays of grasses softening the feel of the place.
An early morning walk letting the light filter through the woodland beside the reservoir is recommended benefitting from the cooler temperatures. Don’t be fooled about the midges , they will come to you eventually if you linger in the Forest sections , so keep on moving but give some time to notice the array of ferns. The woodland magic comes in winter time free of midges and soaked in wonderful warm sunlight which is a motivation to return.
If you feel fit enough , my walk begins at Matthews Linn and finishes at the carparks near the bird hide and then return back. Its a few hours but extend it by walking slower and taking in everything. There is no rush and the more you connect to the beauty of everything the more you will be rewarded.
