September Nature Photo Diary
Northumberland National Park , Kielder Forest & Annstead Dunes
Annstead Dunes
A beautiful day to beach-comb
Finding jewel like seaweed glistening in the sunshine
Seeking different colour and sizes of shells
Bakethin Nature Reserve
Still some flowers hanging in there for the end of summer
Clumps of heather still delight.
As the plants return to earth they create a transformational beauty
Some creating drawing ideas
Old grasses begin to droop in the sunlight filtering into the reserve
Leaves are turning now making folkish art patterns
There are still a few surprises of new life
A hint of times to come when Fungus is popping up to have a look around
Blackberries have been early this year but still some to go around
The nature pond is quietened down now , but that bull rush is defiant.
Autumn creates some beautiful moments.
Bull Crag Peninsular
My purple headed thistle punk rockers have now transformed ready to spread their love
Everything has its own cadence but with the intention of returning back to the earth.
Purples , Lilacs , Yellows and whites still can be found
Maybe a few have not quite decided to open up.
Grasses begin to show beautiful browns and dapple the light
Oranges , Dark Crimsons , Red Browns and Yellow Greens hint at time is changing
The forest moss moves to muted earth colours
Instead of a mass of summer flowers Heather light up the paths
Beautiful autumnal nature scenes scatter the reserve
Hareshaw Linn
In secret places Fungus are emerging
Steadily leaves make there next show of colour
Rejoice the abundance of harvest
A few remnants of a glorious summer
The clover and fern are not ready for autumn yet but the sycamore is planning new trees.
My favourite this time of year is finding little nature stories
